OOPS !!! I forgot, *use the OLD 3.1 HDToolbox *
to initialize the drive first, (setup drive type)
then you can use the new 3.5 version after that.....

The new 3.5 still has some problems with
un-initialised drives.

OK, the size is unimportant at the moment, but I would like
to know if the drive is ACTUALLY working ??

For sake of discussion, let's assume it is... (:/
(AND that it's actually spinning....)

Firstly, if it is the only thing on the bus, it must be set up
as MASTER with no SLAVE...

A lot of drives have 3 modes:

1) MASTER only, *NO SLAVE* attached,
2) MASTER *WITH SLAVE* attached,
3) SLAVE mode.

Consult the diagram (on the drive) if applicable
or consult the brochure to ensure you have it as (1)

On the A1200 it will appear as "scsi.device"
(even though it is an IDE drive)

Your blizzard scsi will use "blizzardscsi.device"
or something like that.

HDToolbox only checks for "scsi.device" by default
but it can be changed in the icon's (tooltype information) area.

Check to make sure the icon's tooltype:
SCSI_DEVICE_NAME= has braces around it or is correctly
set to: scsi.device.
The name *IS* case sensitive, so no capitols or spaces...

Or, you can just pop up a shell & type:
HDToolBox scsi.device

The drive should appear in the list if it is setup properly
AND, if the drive actually works...

It may appear without any type number if the drive has not
been prepped before, but something WILL appear....

If not, check your cables, the tiny cable can be a bitch
to get on right, otherwise, if you dont get this far
try another drive.

One of those old 40Mb seagates will do, that came
with the 1200 will be fine...

When the drive eventually appears, prep it as per my
explanation in a previous mail.

NB: Drives *UNDER 4096Mb* in size, do not need
the new filesystem & WB3.5 to work properly......
